According to the Safe Cities Index released by The Economist, Taipei scored 74 out of 100 and was ranked 24th this year.

The index ranks 60 cities and measures urban safety on five indicators: personal, health, infrastructure, digital and environmental security. Copenhagen was ranked the safest city in the world, followed by Toronto, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.

However, The Economist described Taiwan as “the most dangerous place on earth” in its cover story in April this year because of the increasing threat of Chinese invasion.
