給孩子玩具,不如為孩子念一個故事!爸媽們會不會覺得孩子怎麼一轉眼就長大了呢?把握親子相處的時光,不一定要帶他出去玩,而是「共同做一件事」。比較小的孩子,爸媽們可以先給他聽,中英文都可以,如果能用誇張戲劇的語氣,相信孩子一定會被吸引!大一點的孩子,爸媽除了讓他自己閱讀之外,更可以他們討論其中的故事,啟發孩子的思考力!

“This will be a very easy race, ” thought the hare, seeing how painfully slow his (13)rival was. “Take your time!” he said. “I’ll have forty (14)winks.” So the hare decided to stop to take a (15)rest, and he (16)quickly fell asleep under a tree at the side of the (17)road.

 兔子因為看到他的對手動作那麼慢,所以心中認為:「這場比賽真容易,」。他說:「慢慢來阿!」 「我要打個盹兒。」於是,兔子決定停下腳步休息一下,他在路邊的樹下很快地睡著了。

 

 The sun started to (18)sink and was soon below the horizon. The tortoise had been (19)plodding towards the winning post since morning.

太陽開始下山,很快就落到地平線以下。烏龜從早晨開始,就一直邁著腳步緩慢地前進。

Suddenly, the hare woke up and saw the tortoise far ahead of him! He (20)leaped and (21)bounded at a great pace, with his tongue (22)lolling, and (23)gasping for breath. Just a little more and he’d be first at the finish. But the hare’s last leap was just too late, for the tortoise had beaten him to the winning post.

 突然,兔子一覺醒來,看見烏龜遠遠領先。他加速前進,伸出舌頭不斷地喘氣。再一下子,他就會是第一名。然而,兔子的最後衝刺為時已晚,因為烏龜已經把他打敗了。

 Slow but steady wins the race.

 緩慢但穩定最後贏得比賽。
