健康亮紅燈 日本首相安倍晉三辭職Shinzo Abe resigned for health reasons

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced his resignation on 28, August, citing health reasons. Abe is the longest-serving Japanese prime minister in history.

This is not the first time Abe resigned due to his health. In 2007, he also resigned as prime minister and ended his first term after just over a year in office. Abe was reelected in 2012, and has become a dominant figure in Japanese politics.

Abe has had chronic health issue, and earlier this summer, rumor had it that he would step down soon. The rumor was intensified this month when he visited a hospital two weeks in a row for health checkups.
