During the pandemic lockdowns, many stores are closed, and deliveries are backed up. Since going shopping is not as easy as it used to be, more and more people have started to barter commodities or services with neighbors and strangers on social media. You may swap food for toilet paper, or cleaning supplies for some homemade cookies.

In addition to trading what we have, neighbors also band together to take turns picking up supplies on grocery store runs. People refuse to accept money from each other and simply swap services. It’s not just about getting goods that we need. Helping others and working together give us a sense of connection and feeling of community despite the isolation.

barter with sb for sth

I bartered my old laptop for Daniel’s mobile phone.
