Tourism English: Asking for Directions

When you are asking for directions, there are some commonly used direction terminologies to remember. Most of the time, you should start by saying “excuse me.” Here are some common phrases:

“Excuse me. Can you point me to the nearest gas station?”

“Excuse me. How do I get to the freeway from here?”

“Excuse me. I’m looking for the San Francisco shopping center. I thought it was around here. Do you know where it is?”

問路的時候有一些常見的術語要記。大多數的情況你應該先說「不好意思」,以下還有些常見的說法:

「不好意思,你可以告訴我最近的加油站在哪邊嗎?」

「不好意思,從這裡要怎麼去高速公路?」

「不好意思,我在找舊金山購物中心,以為在這附近,你知道在哪嗎?」

Scientific terminology can be quite complex and difficult to memorize.
