Arriving at a Formal Function　抵達正式的場合

Always be punctual. Arriving late for a function makes a bad impression. It is important to remove and check your outer clothing or raincoat at the coat check stand upon your arrival. If you’re attending the event with an escort, it is the gentlemen’s job to retrieve the coats at the end of the event.

務必準時。遲到會讓人留下不好的印象。抵達時先在衣帽間脫掉外套或雨衣。若您攜伴參加，用餐結束後，紳士的工作是要去幫女士取大衣。

When the call to be seated is announced, do not take your seat before being invited to do so. Gentlemen should always help ladies be seated.

當您被通知準備入座時，被邀請入座之前不要坐下。紳士應先讓女士就坐。

The Correct Order 正確的順序

Use silverware from outside to inside, it is placed according to the order that the food is served.

由外而內使用餐具，餐具如此擺放是按照上菜的順序。

When you’re passing food around, make sure it goes counter-clockwise, and refrain from serving yourself first.

當輪流取用食物時，應逆時鐘方向，不要自己先取用。

Do not make obscene sounds, and most importantly, try not to answer your phone during the meal. If you feel the urge to blow your nose or you have to cough, excuse yourself to visit the restroom.

避免發出不雅的聲音，最重要的是，吃飯時盡量不接聽電話。若想擤鼻涕或咳嗽的話，到洗手間去比較好。

Silverware餐具

Once used, any of your utensils, including the handles, should not touch the table again. Always rest forks, knives, and spoons on the side of your plate or in the bowl.

任何餐具一旦用過，包括握柄，不該再放在桌面上。永遠將刀叉湯匙放在盤子旁邊或碗裡。

To signal that you are done with the course, rest your fork, tines up , and knife blade in, with the handles resting diagonally on your plate.

用餐完畢，將叉子朝上，刀子的刀面朝內，交叉放在盤子裡。
