Experts said that exercise is beneficial for people of any weight because obesity and inactivity frequently go hand in hand.

It is known that not only fat people but also thin people have a higher risk of health problems if they are inactive. Further, obese people who exercise are generally in better health than those who do not.”The greatest risk of an early death was in those classed inactive, and that was consistent in normal weight, overweight and obese people,” said one of the researchers, Prof Ulf Ekelund. He added, “But I don’t think it’s a case of one or the other. We should also strive to reduce obesity, but I do think physical activity needs to be recognized as a very important public health strategy.”

專家表示,運動對任何體重的人來說都有好處,因為肥胖和不常活動通常有關聯。
大家已知的觀念是,如果不活動,不僅胖子,瘦子也會有高風險的健康問題。此外,肥胖的人有運動比不運動的人健康。研究人員之一教授EKELUND表示:「早逝的最大風險就是在那些不愛運動的人,這對中等、肥胖身材的人都一樣。」他還補充說,「但我不認為這是任何一方的問題。我們應該努力減重,但我認為體力活動需要被視為很重要的公共健康策略。」
