《鐵達尼號》是史上前三大賣座的電影，導演是詹姆斯卡麥隆，有關導演的一個小八卦是他很喜歡深海潛水，已進行過72次深海潛水，其中33次是到鐵達尼號的沉船地點。1997年拍攝《鐵達尼號》時，他曾潛入海底12次以拍攝沉船畫面。2012年3月25日，他獨自乘坐「深海時空英豪號」潛水艇，花了兩小時抵達深度近11公里的西太平洋的馬里亞納海溝，並在海底逗留三個小時，這成為人類歷史上第二次抵達最深海底的海底潛水，也是首位獨自抵達該處的人。而不久前，他本人的單人潛艇下潛最深紀錄是在巴布亞紐幾內亞附近的太平洋海域下潛的8.2公里。

Titanic was one of the three biggest box office movies in history. You probably weren’t aware that the director, James Cameron, is also a deep-sea explorer. He has deep-sea dived 72 times, including 33 times at the location of the Titanic’s sinking. In 1997 when he filmed Titanic, he himself dived 12 times to shoot the scene of the wreck. He spent almost two hours getting to the five-mile-deep bottom of the Mariana Trench in a solo dive by the Deep sea Challenger submersible, and spent over three hours there. Cameron is the second person to have reached the deepest part of the Mariana Trench and the first person to accomplish the trip solo. Not long ago, Cameron set a new record again by reaching a depth of 8.2 kilometers on a deep-sea dive in the Pacific Ocean near Papua New Guinea.
