documentary：紀錄片
a film or television or a radio program that gives detailed information about a particular subject
針對某特定主題提供資訊的電影、電視或廣播節目

e.g. A local film crew is making a documentary about volcanoes.
例句：本地有一支電影團隊正在拍攝跟火山有關的紀錄片。

comedy：喜劇片
a play, film, or television program that is intended to make people laugh
旨在讓人發笑的戲劇、電影、電視節目

e.g. My friend said it was the funniest comedy of the year.
例句：我朋友說這是今年最爆笑的喜劇片。

 romance：愛情片
a story about the love between two people
跟兩人情愛有關的故事

e.g. My sister always cries during romance movies.
例句：我妹看愛情片必哭。

action：動作片
a film in which one or more heroes are thrust into a series of challenges that typically include physical feats, extended fight scenes, violence, and frantic chases
描述幾位英雄面臨挑戰的電影，通常包括了打鬥場面、暴力、飛車追逐

e.g. My mother wouldn’t let me see the new action movie because it was too violent.
例句：我媽不准我看這部剛上映的動作片，因為太暴力了。

horror movie：恐怖片
a film in which strange and frightening things happen
敘述古怪、可怕事情的電影

e.g. Ghosts, serial killers, and demons are commonly featured in horror films.

science fiction：科幻片
stories about events in the future which are affected by imaginary developments in science, for example, about traveling in time or to other planets with life on them

e.g.My father was a big science fiction fan, and particularly enjoys the Star Trek movies.

adventure：探險片
unlike action films, they often use their action scenes preferably to display and explore exotic locations in an energetic way
跟動作片不同，探險片的動作場面通常都用來呈現異域風光，讓觀眾跟著角色一起探險

e.g.After watching a few adventure films, I had the urge to go explore an exotic country for an adventure of my own.

drama：劇情片
a film genre that depends mostly on its in-depth development of realistic characters dealing with emotional themes
